Terms of Service

The rules of using Youmeng — kept short and readable.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Youmeng app and the youmeng.app website (together, the "Service"), operated by the developer of Youmeng ("we", "us", "our"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms.

If you don't agree to any part of these Terms, please don't use the Service. These Terms are designed to be readable — we've kept the legalese to the minimum needed to be enforceable.

1. Who can use Youmeng

You must be at least 13 years old to use Youmeng. In the European Union and United Kingdom, if you're between 13 and 16, you may only use Youmeng with the involvement of a parent or guardian, as GDPR requires.

You must be able to form a binding contract with us. If you're using Youmeng on behalf of an organization, you confirm you're authorized to bind that organization.

2. Your account

You sign in to Youmeng using an email address you control. You're responsible for keeping access to that email secure. If you suspect someone else has accessed your account, email us at hello@youmeng.app and we'll help.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms (see section 7).

3. Your dreams belong to you

You retain full ownership of everything you record in Youmeng — the dream text, voice recordings, symbols, moods, titles, and any notes. We claim no copyright in your content.

You grant us a limited license to host, store, transmit, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. This license terminates when you delete the content or your account. We do not use your content for advertising, training general-purpose AI models, or any purpose unrelated to running Youmeng.

You're responsible for your content. Please don't upload content that:

• Infringes someone else's intellectual property or privacy
• Contains threats, harassment, or material designed to harm others
• Is unlawful in your jurisdiction
• Is malware, exploit code, or anything intended to disrupt the Service

We don't routinely read user content. If we ever do (e.g., because of a legal request or a verified abuse report), we'll only access what's necessary.

4. AI symbolic readings — what they are and aren't

When you tap "Read this dream," Youmeng sends your dream content to a third-party AI provider, which returns a symbolic interpretation.

• The reading is generated by a machine. It may be inaccurate, unhelpful, or occasionally strange. You're free to delete it.
• The reading is not medical, psychological, psychiatric, or any other professional advice.
• Don't use Youmeng readings to make significant medical or life decisions. Talk to a qualified person you trust.
• We do not guarantee that any specific reading or feature will be available indefinitely.

5. Acceptable use

Please don't:

• Reverse-engineer the app or its servers
• Try to access another user's account or data
• Use the Service to send spam, phishing, or malware
• Resell, sublicense, or build a competing product on top of Youmeng's data export
• Use automated means (scrapers, bots) to access the Service in ways that disrupt other users
• Bypass any technical limit (rate limits, AI request quotas) we set
• Submit content that violates section 3

These aren't an exhaustive list. The general rule: don't be a bad neighbor to other Youmeng users or to us.

6. Payments and free use

Youmeng is currently free to use. If we add paid features in the future, we'll publish their terms in a separate "Subscription Terms" page and obtain your explicit consent before charging you. Subscriptions, if introduced, will follow Apple's and Google's normal billing rules; refunds will be handled per their policies in most cases.

7. Suspension and termination

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account. All associated data is erased within 30 days (see the Privacy Policy for details).

We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, if continuing your access would put others at risk, or if we're required to do so by law. Where reasonably possible, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to fix it.

If we shut down the Service entirely, we'll notify users at least 30 days in advance by email and provide a way to export your data.

8. The necessary legal parts

No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific result will be achieved. We don't warrant any AI-generated reading or any third-party content.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, profits, business opportunities, or goodwill.
• Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you've paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $50.

Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you in their entirety. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, death, or personal injury caused by negligence, where such limitation is prohibited by law.

Indemnification

If a third party sues us because of how you used the Service (e.g., you uploaded infringing content), you'll cover the reasonable costs of defending against that claim, except where the claim arises from our own breach of these Terms or applicable law.

9. Changes to these Terms

If we change these Terms in a way that materially reduces your rights or increases your obligations, we'll notify you by email or in-app banner at least 14 days before the change takes effect. By continuing to use the Service after the effective date, you accept the new Terms. If you don't accept, you can delete your account before the change takes effect.

Smaller edits (typos, clarifications) may be made without notice, but we'll always update the "Last updated" date above.

10. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, except that nothing prevents us or you from seeking injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.

If you're a consumer in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction that grants you mandatory rights to sue in your local courts, those rights are unaffected by this section.

11. Miscellaneous

• Entire agreement. These Terms (together with the Privacy Policy) are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
• No waiver. If we don't enforce a particular term, that doesn't waive our right to enforce it later.
• Severability. If any part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
• Assignment. We may transfer these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, on reasonable notice. You may not transfer your account.
